TUESDAY MAY 26

It didn’t take long for trainer Kym Davison to identify the potential in apprentice jockey Brittany Button.
“She is as good as any senior jockey in the area and can claim 1.5 kilograms and she is the jockey I go to first,” Davison said.
“She listens to what you ask her to do and has a good rapport with my owners.”
Davison and Button will combine with three chances at Albury on Monday – th in-form Hells Spirit being their best chance of success, while Andres Girl and Smokin’ Anniversary will debut.
Albury is home for Davison and holds fond memories for him with his first starter there in 1999.
Just over a year later, he had his first winner at Albury with Ucello Mio on December 18, 2000.
He has been in the racing game for a major part of his 68 years and it’s at this stage of his career he is the most excited.
Stable star Autumn Break will be back in training at the end of next month with the plan to start first-up in The Kosciusko.
“I think he will come back better from the good spell,” Davison enthused.
As for his association and strike-rate with Button, Davison said success came fairly early.
“We got our first winner together early and it has rolled on from there,” he said.
It certainly has with 34 starters producing eight wins, seven seconds and four thirds for a top three strike-rate of 55 per cent.
With the unknown about the first starters, Hells Spirit is the pick of the Davison runner now that he is excelling over2000 metres which will be his journey for the Pogson Cronin Kerr Benchmark 58.
His last ten starts have produced three wins, one second, two thirds and three fourths.
All of his three wins have occurred at Albury with four attempts at 2000 metres yielding two wins and two thirds.
Button has been in charge in all wins and also in all but three of his career starts.
“The distance suits him and from a good draw in three he should be right up there all of the way,” Davison said.
Andres Girl (Albury Plumbing Service Maiden 900m) and Smokin’ Anniversary (Redi2hire Maiden Plate 1175m) are both trial winners.
“They are both going well and are ready to start. The trials have been good without being knocked about,” he said.
“Andres Girl was to have started before this and is right to go again now. If she runs well she will drop back to two-year-old grade for the Lamont Classic at Wagga.”
There will be seven races on a soft seven rated surface.
